Overview

A lonesome crawdad, mired in debt. Two dozen tenacious bosses—your creditors—demand remuneration or your life. Scrape up the scratch to pay them off, or fight them to the death. Bleu Bayou balances offbeat levity and cozy retro vibes with tense combat and a high skill ceiling that will appeal to bullet hell and Soulsborne lovers.

Manage your finances within a predatory economy. Runs take place over the course of a week. Every day, new bosses and opportunities emerge, and interest accrues as creditors lose patience and become more dangerous. Bleu Bayou presents a deep character build space with over fifty weapons and hundreds of synergistic upgrades. Between battles, connect with transient visitors over games of skill and chance; dozens of unique minigames offer risky paths to financial freedom or to ruin.

Bleu Bayou is our love letter to the Game Boy. Its 160 x 144 base resolution and four-shade palettes are largely faithful to the original Game Boy and Game Boy Color hardware. On launch, Bleu Bayou will be supported on a wide array of Linux-based handhelds via Portmaster; the free demo is already supported and available now.
